Strategic Plan 2011-13

Vision

  • ZERO toddler drownings
  • Best possible quality of life for children with hypoxic brain injuries

Mission

  • To develop, promote and/or contribute to campaigns and partnerships that will achieve our vision of zero toddler drowning
  • To ensure that every disabled child is provided with the equipment, aids and services they need to support their daily care and quality of life as soon as the need is identified.

Objectives and Strategies

Objective 1 – Zero Drownings

Strategies

1.1 Strengthen established partnerships with key water safety agencies around the country

1.2 Continued advocacy for changes to Standards, Legislation, Regulations and their enforcement to improve the safety of domestic swimming pools  and safety around other water sources

1.3 Continued advocacy for the introduction and implementation of a National Scheme of competency for swimming pool barrier/safety inspectors covering both the public and private sectors

1.4 Continued advocacy for the adoption of a nationally consistent regulatory framework for safety of domestic swimming pools and other aquatic environments

Objective 2 – Provision of equipment to support the daily care and quality of life of children with hypoxic brain injuries and associated disabilities

Strategies

2.1 Strengthen partnerships with key disability service providers servicing children with hypoxic brain injuries and their families

2.2  Assist in ensuring the prescription of the right equipment at the right time for each child’s needs

2.3 Continued advocacy for the introduction and implementation of a no-fault National Disability Insurance Scheme to provide individual case funding to ensure access to equipment and services to maintain the quality of life for children who acquire a brain injury, and all other Australians who are born with or acquire a brain injury or other form of disability.

Objective 3 – Research with Impact

Strategies

3.1 Development of research priorities in relation to  hypoxic brain injuries and associated disabilities

3.2 Development of a network of researchers involved in hypoxic brain injury and associated disabilities research

3.3 Development of a sustained capacity to support and promote hypoxic brain injury research

3.4 Support the development of research fellowships focused on hypoxic brain injuries and associated disabilities.

Objective 4 – A strong professional organisation

Strategies

4.1 Development of a strong, well respected and trusted brand that attracts a wide range of sponsorship

4.2 Maintain effective governance systems and implement continuous improvement methodologies

4.3 Maintain an effective donor and sponsor relationship management system

4.4 Develop predictable and sustainable income streams to support the growth and diversification of foundation activities

4.5 Develop strong and enduring relationships with key stakeholders, donors and sponsors
